Welcome! I’m Dr. Kelly M. Downing, an accomplished academic coach dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential. With a Doctor of Philosophy in Literacy from St. John’s University, I have spent over a decade nurturing the minds of young learners and educators alike. My passion for education is complemented by an extensive background in teaching, curriculum development, and educational leadership.
As the CEO of Sound Business Inc., I champion innovative programs that enhance literacy and foster a love for learning. My experience as a Senior Faculty member with The Writing Revolution has equipped me with the tools to design impactful professional development courses that transform teaching practices.
I am particularly passionate about mentoring young men of color, a focus reflected in my dissertation, "Perceptions of Mentoring Kings and Effects of the Hochman Method on High School Boys of Color." My commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment drives my work, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am actively involved in various community initiatives aimed at empowering youth and promoting educational equity. I believe that with the right guidance and resources, every student can achieve academic success and personal growth.
