I’m an academic coach, education consultant, and literacy specialist committed to helping students—especially boys and young men of color—unlock their full potential through research-based strategies, personalized support, and transformative mentoring.

With over 20 years of experience in education leadership, literacy instruction, and student development, I’ve supported learners from middle school to graduate school as they build confidence, master critical skills, and achieve ambitious academic and career goals. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, including The Writing Revolution, The Hochman Method, and the Orton-Gillingham Approach—tools I’ve used to significantly improve student writing, reading comprehension, and executive functioning.

My doctoral research at St. John’s University examined the perceptions and impact of the Hochman Method among young men of color, highlighting how structured writing instruction can empower student voice, strengthen identity, and enhance academic outcomes. This research continues to inform my approach—combining rigor with cultural responsiveness to foster meaningful and lasting growth.

As a former ELA teacher, college professor, literacy coach, and executive director, I bring a deep understanding of both classroom instruction and systems-level change. I’ve led writing initiatives that increased student performance by over 80%, developed programs that prepare students for college and career success, and partnered with families and educators to create academic environments where all learners thrive.
